The table below ranks the parks we visited, according to our complete experience
as opposed to a ranking based on the primary feature in the park (like the amphitheatre
at Bryce for example). It's worth pointing out that the park in 7th place was
*amazing* meaning that the standard overall was incredibly high.
| 1. Capitol Reef National Park, Southern Utah |
Beautiful, understated, geologically splendid, historic and
quiet |
 |
| 2. Joshua Tree National Park, California |
Desert beauty, fantastic rocks, fragrant air, joshua trees
and wildlife. |
 |
| 3. Sequoia National Park, California |
Wonderful, enormous trees and lovely mountain views. |
 |
| 4. Zion National Park, Southern Utah |
Magnificent sandstone walls and all round beauty especially
when away from the crowds |
 |
| 5. Bryce Canyon National Park, Southern Utah |
A unique experience in the amphitheatre but a slightly limited
park apart from that |
 |
| 6. Death Valley |
Weird but wonderful. We didn't stay in this park otherwise
it may well have ended up higher in the table. |
 |
| 7. Grand Canyon National Park |
The truly staggering Grand Canyon itself, pushed into 7th
place by APVOS (Awesome Panaramic View Overload Syndrome). |
