Friday 18th August 2006 - Paris
We arrived Paris at about 8am and walked across the Seine to from the Austerlitz
station to Gare de Lyon for tourist information. As we'd suspected (Martin and
Marina had camped in Paris when they last did the inter-rail in 1987), there
is only one campsite, at Bois de Boloigne in Paris, to the west of the city.
So we caught metro (confusing maps!) and then a bus to near to the camp site.
We then walked for ages with our very heavy bags, following signs for the camp
site, only to find that the signs were for cars in the one way system and we'd
walked away from the campsite. Arrrggghhh! When we did eventually get to the
camp site, we then had to queue for 45 mins just to check in. Arrrrggggghhhhhhh!
Finally, we put tents up and had some lunch sat at picnic benches. Intending to then go out, we returned to tents to get things but....fell asleep instead! We were all really tired, not having slept quite as well as we'd hoped on the train. There was torrential rain that afternoon anyway, so we didn't miss much.
No pics from this day.
