Canada : Wednesday 15th August 2007 - Vancouver Island : Qualicum Beach

We left the Victoria campground and headed north along Vancouver Island's Highway 1. Our destination was Qualicum Beach, popular amongst locals and tourists. Our plan was to find a place to camp which we could stay at for the remainder of the holiday.

On arrival, we got details of local campgrounds from the tourist information centre and were told we'd have no trouble finding somewhere to stay mid-week but that the weekend might be a problem. Sure enough, the first place we went to had space for us for only two nights. Despite this we decided to stay anyway as it was a very nice family oriented campground with all sorts of luxuries like hot showers (!) and a heated swimming pool. Somewhat different to where Jack and Martin had camped at Clearwater Lake!

Once camped, we had a really nice and relaxed day, reading our books, playing with Jack's frizbee thing and just lounging about in the sun.

A very different (and pleasant) kind of campground at Qualicum Beach.
