Yet another cold, wet day. Don't the Canadians believe in having a summer?
First stop of the day was Mount Edith Cavell. Various glaciers flow down from the top of the mountain to a glacial lake. Bekky surprised us all by suggesting we walk (that's *walk* in case you missed that!) the loop trail that took us all the way to the edge of the lake. The lake had fairly large pieces of ice floating on it and a creditable ice cliff on the far side. Jack, who had left his shoes at the tent and so was doing the hike in his... flip flops.... took a brief paddle as a dare from Martin. He lasted approximately 4 nanoseconds because it apparently it was quite cold :-)
After Mount Edith Cavell, we drove back into Jasper to fill up with petrol and grab a few things for lunch. We then set out in search of somewhere suitable to have lunch. We decided to drive to Malign Lake via Medicine Lake. The first lake we stopped at, which may or may not have been Medicine Lake, had the deepest torqoise-green colour imaginable. The picture was made perfect when three (wild?) horses appeared out of nowhere on the far side of the lake to drink from it.
Malign Lake was... cold and surrounded by a massive cloud of mosquitos! So our walk there was very short indeed!
The evening was spent back at the campsite with a great fire and fun with Jack's frisbee, hoop thing.
Medicine Lake's colouring was reminiscent of Emerald Lake's.
See the horses on the far shore?

Bekky's head very nearly fell off. Thank goodness for Bekky's quick thinking!
