Bangalore, India : Sunday 9th March

Martin's last day in the country. And what a day. Martin and Michael went exploring by auto-rickshaw and found their way to a couple of areas of interest. The first has a small market and a fascinating district dedicated to recovering parts from old cars and motor cycles and reselling them. The second was a wholesale market, full of lovely people and amazing sights and sounds. I can't imagine a better place to be with a camera.

At 6pm we returned to Cubban Park for the tennis finals. We didn't bother watching the doubles (Martin had to be up at 4:30 a.m. to check out and get to the airport) but... the singles final, with Serena Williams vs Patty Schnyder was absolutely brilliant! Michael is now a self-confessed tennis fan :-)

A christian church near the first market we visited
Bags for sale.....
...and coconuts
...and grapes
... and veg
...and other stuff!
In the auto parts district, this guy had a very nice Lambretta. Cool!
Cars and bikes came in at this side of the district to be taken apart
Cow!
Car!
Like many people we met, these guys asked for their photo to be taken. They were very friendly and one of them was kind of funny too
On the way to the wholesale market, we saw this family on the motorcycle from our auto-rickshaw. Note the sleeping baby!
More fruit for sale! Actually, Martin took quite a few more "arty" pics from the market. See the Images page for the best ones
People were generally happy to have their photo taken and we normally made sure by asking. And they're such a photogenic people!
This one escaped the Images page but is a further example of Martin's obsession with fruit and veg close-ups that day!
Goats and Lettuce are a winning combination
The umbrellas are not because it might rain. It was *really* hot.

...and Patty Schnyder returning...
Serena serving again
Serena victorious in straight sets 7/5, 6/3. Patty put up a good fight though and the match was a joy to watch
Patty receiving the runner up prize
And Serena getting her prize, including a cheque for over $95,000. Nice!
